Know Your Audience

“Go To Phrases”

“I don’t know”

When our intent is on point and you understand WHO you are talking to, you know your audience- Marvelous!  But you just don’t know: what the answer is, what your decision is, How you feel about it…yet. What do you say when you don’t know?  Hint: the answer is contained within the question!

Let’s Practice!

Oooooo doesn’t speaking your simple truth feel good? :)   If you sputter out false answers or made up responses, you have not honored your intent, which does NOT make for productive communication! It’s completely acceptable and hugely appropriate to say “I don’t know” when you really don’t know. Moreover, it’s appreciated by the other party because you are leading by the example of speaking your truth at all times, taking your time to think and be accurate, as well as successfully interacting even during those times when we just “don’t know”!

“I don’t care”

Please use these words only when you mean them!! When people say “I don’t care” when they really do care, others are left in confusion about what you want and what you want from them. It is perfectly acceptable to not always have a preference one way or the other = “I don’t care,” BUT when you do have a preference, don’t you dare say “I don’t care!” Tell people what you do care about and you will just have eliminated half of all confusions and miscommunications. (Please use your words)
